Advice for pre-production

Cost Estimating

In order to provide a cost estimate, we will need to know the specifications of your project:

  • trim size of book (standard size could be 5.5 x 8.5 or 6 x 9 or other)
  • page count
  • quantity of books to print
  • paper stock of text pages (weight and finish/glossy vs. matte)
  • paper stock of cover pages
  • is there color in the book or on the cover or is it black and white?
  • what kind of binding do you require?  (perfect binding vs. saddle stitch/"staple bind")

If you’re unsure about the specs, don’t hesitate to ask us—that’s why we’re here!

We provide a full-range of pre-production services to get your file ready to print. However, if you are doing the pre-production work yourself, our estimate is based on receiving a TROUBLE-FREE file. It is important for you to take responsibility for your file and prepare it correctly. See our "PREPARING FILES" page for tips on how to set up your file correctly.
